who we help

If you are dealing with a relationship concern, health issue or you are a caregiving for someone with a health issue, we can help.

Sometimes in life, things just don’t go as we had planned. We can find ourselves feeling alone in our struggle, and like others don’t quite understand. You’ve probably asked around for advice and feel like a lot of what you hear is good natured but biased, or that you don’t really want to discuss all the details of the struggle with friends and family.

In our office, we specialize in helping to navigate the complications of relationships, as well as assisting clients and caregivers dealing with illness. Sometimes these issues are intertwined and related, other times they are not. We find these experiences often result in high levels of stress, sadness, and anxious feelings and thoughts. We can help with that, too.

We are most commonly asked if we have worked with specific health and relationship issues before. Yes, we work in this area extensively and we are here to help you find your way- whatever way that may be. We know you are seeking support and direct feedback, as well as someone who is fully and truly invested in your wellbeing. We believe the limited feedback and “nodding” types of responses from therapists are a thing of the past and pride ourselves at getting straight to what brings you in to see us.

dealing with illness

We know that sometimes our health and our bodies can take unexpected turns resulting in chronic health and chronic pain issues, and even terminal illnesses. You and/or your family can wind up in complicated situations for which you feel unprepared and overwhelmed.

We work most regularly with:

  • Neurological conditions and symptoms
  • Gastrointestinal disorders and symptoms
  • Cardiac issues
  • Chronic pain and chronic illness
  • Those in the process of identifying the cause of their physical symptoms.
Many of our clients are also caregivers, or those that are have lost loved ones. We are also deeply invested in learning about rare conditions and have the distinct honor of working alongside our clients to understand and support them through their medical journey.

Throughout their work with us, many of our clients have logistical and resource-based questions about care management needs, we are happy to assist with those needs as well. All of our therapists are trained in case management and have worked in community and hospital-based settings assisting clients and their loved ones with access to care, caregivers, specialists, and disability resources.

We understand that getting to our office may be difficult for those dealing with health issues. We offer telehealth sessions should you prefer to schedule video/virtual appointments. Our virtual appointments utilize the HIPAA compliant Doxy app which can be accessed via your computer or smart phone. We will provide you with all the information needed to access us for virtual appointments. Of note, this benefit is limited to Illinois residents only. If you are using your insurance, we are happy to verify what your insurance may cover.

family & couples relationships

We know that relationships can take a complicated turn, and you can wind up feeling unheard, unappreciated, or feeling like you just don’t connect with your partner anymore. We know how far you can get from the beginning “good old days” of your relationship.

Most of our clients are interested in working on:

  • Improving their communication
  • Conflict resolution
  • Seeking balance within their relationship roles and household ‘chores’
  • Changes resulting in attempting to and/or having started a family
  • Navigating the relationships to their own families and/or in-laws
  • Rebuilding trust
  • Thinking through the process of separation or divorce

We predominately work with the Gottman Model and method, which is an evidence-based approach to helping clients navigate and improve their relationships. You can read more about that here.

depression & anxiety

At our office, we specialize in the complications of relationships, and also the management and coping with health issues.
